The subject is a mirror that is its own with the canvas carrying its own interpretation painted by the object, particularly when it is a living thing or food item, such as fruit or people. The style that Alexa Meade paints is ephemeral, and all remaining of Alexa Meade's work is her photo. Photography and painting techniques are tightly coordinated, resulting in a two-dimensional, flat area that is trompe l'oeil. The only areas of the photo, like the hair or eyes, display the 3D dimension. Meade occasionally integrates painted models in the space surrounding them. This allows them to engage with the environment she has created. It eliminates any distinction between painting, photography and installation.
