AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco is an American professional soccer player. She plays as a striker and captains for San Diego Wave FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) which is the most prestigious level of women's professional soccer in the United States, and the United States women's national soccer team.She co-captained the United States women's national soccer team along with Carli Lloyd and Megan rapinoe from 2018 to 2020. After graduating earlier from the University of California, Berkeley where she was a player for the California Golden Bears, Morgan was drafted number one overall during the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. She made her debut at the club , and also helped the team win their league championship. Morgan was just 22 at the time was the youngest athlete on the national team in the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup, in which the team finished second. She scored the match-winning goal in the semi-final match against Canada in the semi-final game during the 2012 London Olympics. The 2012 season ended with 21 goals and 28 assists as she joined Mia Hamm as the only American woman who scored 20 goals and give 20 assists within the same calendar year , becoming the sixth the sixth U.S. player to score 20 goals in one season. She was awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year and was the FIFA World Player of the The Year finalist. Morgan played a key role in the United States winning their titles during the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups and the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup. Morgan was selected to both the Dream Team and won the Silver Boot in 2019.
